BUTTERFLY BLUES

The summer wind in perfect

The flowers  are pink and merry

The grey asphalt reflects the warm golden sun

Flapping in joy

Pretty butterflies swarm the  road-ed sky !

Red, fast and reckless

Hurrying away to a  faraway land

The car speeds on !

As the two worlds collide

The butterflies dive  

The  wind shield shatters

As  traces of  colour and death  are left behind

The driver hums a tune

And the music plays on

Tell me Oh Lord

I may wash away the blood and colour!

But can You ever wash away the sin ? 

ULTIMATE FRIEND

You are my ultimate friend

You are my only respite

You have thousand faces

You take a billion forms

You are the one of the few

Yet the middle of many

You lead me! You guard me!

You are my only way!

Oh! Lord of all creation!

Make me one with you!

MOONLIT SKY

The music of the heavens sings out as moonlight

As the clouds dance to the tunes of the breeze

The tress sway and the birds chirp

For today is the day; the day your Love set me free

Overwhelmed and lost in the eternal bliss of your Love

The remnants of the person in me is enthralled

And the joy filled heart in me overflows

As thoughts freeze and time stands still

In the vastness of the moonlit sky of Your Love

Oh! Let me vanish in peace! 

OASIS OF LOVE

In this life of wilderness, lurking with concealed predators  

Oh! Beloved Lord! How wonderful is the comfort of your love!

Lost and wandering, in this desert of pointlessness

In your mighty presence; I have finally found the oasis of my life!

In this magnificent oasis; the spring of love is overflowing

The fruits of joy are all around; and happiness surrounds me

In this oasis, of your glorious presence

My thirst and hunger for life has been finally quenched

Oh! Beloved Lord! As I finally rest in this oasis; let me sleep tonight! 

GOD IS LOVE

Listen friend! What are you fighting about!

In this day of enlightenment

Why do you still crouch in medieval darkness!

Take away your blindfold of hatred

And see the world with eyes of love!

Throw away your divisive thoughts

And embrace the truth of love and compassion!

For God is all around you; god is all within you;

For God is manifested! God is Love!  

In the mystical dervishes of the Sufi

In the lotus position of the yogi

In the cross and the Calvary

In the holy ashes, and the flowing Ganges

God is all around you!

In Mecca or Jerusalem; Kasi or Gaya

Every man has a heart; and every heart has a spark of it!  

The  flame of everlasting love!

As the same sun shines high; in both the wilderness and in the green pastures

Jehovah and Allah; Hari and Shiva

Aren’t they but different fingers pointing to the same sun?

As the sunshine of love fills the heart of a true lover

What else is God but Love! 

IN THEE

Oh Lord! Benevolent and merciful!

Maker of the thinker and his thought!

In thy boundless mercy; I surrender myself!

As the world of thy making stands still

And the sunshine spreads between the trees

My sentience is filled with thy magnificence!

All my pointless worries and fears!

All my pride; and all my anger!

Vanish as evanescent mist in thy brilliance!

Oh Lord!  I humbly surrender to thee; all that I call myself!

For, in thee, I have lost my miseries!

In thee, I have become one!

In thee, I have tasted the sweetness of eternal bliss!

Oh lord! Savior of my unworthy soul!

I humbly surrender myself to thee!

LORD OF THE SNAIL

Oh lord! Creator of all creatures great and small!

Did you, with your mighty hands, twist the twirls of this little snail?

Splendid in form and color; splendid in manifestation!

You lead him from clear grasslands, to the grey highway!

But was it your will; that he too must cross? 

What calciferous paradise do you hold in store for him?

What luring treasure, to make him slide to the other side?

You shaped his shell; so beautiful and brittle!

But, what about the strength of the speeding truck!

You gave him eyes to see; but no legs to flee!

In his life of flesh and lime; you gave him action and free will

But, what about, insight and wisdom!

As he sees his speeding fate approaching; unable to recede in time

A beautiful life now lost forever!

Crushed and stuck to some tyre, as mere specks of slime!

Oh lord of the snail! Omnipotent and omniscient!

As you sit back and watch in your glory, do you smile, or do you cry?

In the name of the beloved the crimson sun rises

In his name it sets today

In the name of the beloved, blessed life is given

In his name, life ebbs away

In the name of the beloved, is love everlasting! 

In his name let me be!

ONLY YOU

The Blue Mosque - Istanbul 

I have sailed the seven seas, and traveled across mountains and plains

I have read the wisdom of the ages and of myriad lands 

I have tasted the nectar of truth from every flower of faith

Yet in my soul searching journey, I did not find myself

I have looked everywhere and sought answers from the heaven and skies

But everywhere I looked for my soul, I found only You!

In the deepest chasm of my soul, and in the warmth of the morning sunshine; I find only you

In every nook and every corner of some busy street, and in the fearful darkness of the winter night; I find only You

In the dew filled blossoms of spring, and breezed up leaves of autumn; I find only You

In the face of every passer by; and in every bird painting the evening sky; I find only You

In the pain and happiness of some unknown man; and the untold sorrow in another land; I find only You

Oh Mysterious one! Words and concepts fall apart to silence to fathom thee!

Oh master of my sentience, player of my consciousness; doer of all that’s done!

Let my humble soul be filled with you!

SHEPHERD OF MY SOUL

To green pastures and clear waters, from time unknown, you have lead me!

You trusted me, when I deserted you for other pastures

You fed me, when the grass was dry, and the sky was overcast

You protected me, when the wolves of suffering surrounded me

And welcomed me back with open arms, when I wandered away

Yet, in this lonely pasture of today, I yearn for your missing staff

Oh shepherd of my soul!  My only benevolent redeemer!

Lead me to me to your very home! 

MYSTICAL WHIRLS

Bismillah! As you whirl to the mystical music!

Bismillah! As you whirl as a blossom of love!

As a falling flower twirls and dances in the morning breeze

Before its washed away in deaths inevitable stream

Whirl away, your life of impermanence

Whirl away, to the land of eternal glory

Whirl away in eternal ecstasy, as you enter the gates of the heaven within

As you whirl away in heavenly bliss of this holy union! Bismillah!

Bismillah! As you whirl to the mystical music!

WHERE ARE YOU

 The sun has set and darkness has taken its place

There are no moons to shine and no stars to twinkle

The streets are deserted and the mind is numb  

 

In this dark corner of my mind – I sit alone

I sit alone and wonder – where are you! 

TELL ME GREAT ZARATHUSTRA

Wounded in battle! The battle for his own holy name

Fatally frozen in rigor-less mortis!

 The Lord God is finally dead!

And Übermensch,  our only salvation,  is snoring at his grave !

The vibrant shades of the colorless truth lie scattered 

Just as brains splattered on the mind's bloodied wall  

Tell me oh  great zarathustra! What mighty prism of ideas can divide the truth?

The infinite truth of the mindless skies!

The devil of nihilism may drag you to your hell

But, if you deny it all; how could you tell?

Your eternal castles built on paradise sand

But in the world of delusion,  can they withstand?

Bound to the orbit of mortal gravity

No sailor to sail your righteousness  

No soul to salvage your selfishness  

Riding alone on the tireless horse of chaos

What mindful monster will you tame?

If life is not even,  a worthy game!

Tell me oh great Zarathustra !  Is God really dead ?

SPLENDID FACE

Is it in your hidden face, the perfection, I have always been looking for?

Is it in your intoxicating eyes; that I loose myself completely?

Is it in your sweet voice, when the music fills my soul?

Is it your in heavenly fragrance,  the garden of my life is 

enlightened?

Is it in your sublime smile, when the curtain for my happiness is finally raised?

Is it in your everlasting love, when the fountain of my heart overflows endlessly?

Oh beloved one! Give me a glimpse of your splendid face! 

COME TO ME

Come to me!  Oh  love of my heart! 

Our long awaited moment,  has finally come !

Our weary eyes  finally meet,  after a life time of separation

Our searching souls , wounded by apparent demise, have finally become one ! 

As I surrender my existence to the heavenly warmth of your everlasting love

My every breath fills with your magnificence

My mortal heart beat, resonates with your wondrous beauty

 As the beauty  your splendid smile  brightens the ambience of my shattered life

Oh love of  my heart ! Let  this sacred union of ours last forever !

EMPYREAL MANIFESTATION

Oh empyreal one; of mystery and awe!

                                                                                 

I have been longing for even  a glimpse of  your shadow

I have traveled the seven seas, and scaled up mighty mountains

Yet, I find you no where, in the world outside!

Oh mysterious one!

How can I seek you, when you are hidden!

Hidden behind my thoughts, and blinded eyes!

Hidden to foolish woes and cries!

Lost in this futile search for your external presence

My fatigued eyes close, and my lonesome heart sinks

With dawning humility, my pointless ego finally shrinks

And at this very moment!

You manifest your mysterious self!

My enlightened senses turn inward

Inward to the beauty of this wondrous manifestation

And in this light of your manifest formlessness 

How can I not, but see you in everything!

Everything in the universe outside! 

As my inner eyes finally open!

Finally open,  to the dawn of the inner light!

When the sun doesn’t shine and the moon doesn’t rise

When there is darkness everywhere

This inner light is that, which forever shines

Shining and manifesting as your magnificence

Shining and manifesting as your presence

Oh empyreal one; of mystery and awe

Make me a manifestation of you!

REFLECTION OF YOU

Brilliant sunshine on a misty morning

 

Reflecting the joy in my nascent soul

The stillness of the clear blue skies

Reflecting in the calmness of my mind 

The fluffy silence of the floating clouds

Reflecting  in my sentient serenity

The music played by the comforting breeze 

Reflecting in the symphony of my heart

Oh , this wonderful universe!

Reflecting in me with so much beauty! 

Oh , Master of the unfathomable 

 Am I a just a reflection of  You ! 

NECTAR AND SALT

Oh, how sweet is this nectar of love!

 

Oh, how sweet and everlasting it seems!

Yet, as drops of honey, dripping  into the ever salty ocean

I struggle in this world of paradoxical profanity

Where in this salty ocean of greed and delusion, can there be a sweet solace?

How can a single drop of honey, change the salty taste of the brackish ocean?

Will the saltiness drown the love? Will it dissolve the sweet essence?

Will the saltiness overflow and fill my presence?

Oh lord! How can I preserve this sweetness of your nectar!

You fill me with golden drops of honey and love!

You fill my empty pot of existence!

Yet, you throw me into this world of  salty perdition!

Oh lord! Save my sweet soul from this salty sedimentation!

Fill me with golden drops and honey and love!

Fill me and lead me beyond the salty ocean to the everlasting sweetness of your shore!

THE SHADOW OF YOUR LIGHT

Even in the shadow of your light

You awaken me

Rays of scattered light fills my morning heart

As dew and smiles cover the sprouting grass

Happiness dawns upon the cloud of anxiety

And Joy fills the soul with compassion and satiety

Fountains of life and love overflow

And wash away the traces of sorrow

Even in the shadow of your light

Your love awakens me

Awakens and sets me free
