SUNDAY SALVATION

Rushing on a Sunday morning

Flaunting and flashing; Wealth and well being

Cursing the passersby for coming in your way

Angry about being late

And anxious about missing the sermon

Driving recklessly, even as you hear the church bells ring

Tell me dear friend!

What salvation are you rushing for?

Mindlessly rushing for just another Sunday service

Pompously kneeling; mechanically praying

Asking for token forgiveness, for your willful sins

Yet proudly clinging to the vices of greed hate and delusion

Tell me dear friend!

How long after the merry service, does the feeling of guilt free goodness last?

For, beyond the confines of, space, time and the pulpit

Unrestricted by institution, or constitution

Beyond the tainted glass of ideas and belief

There lies the infinite world of truth and understanding

And, once you kneel in earnest prayer, and shed your tainted coat of identity

You too friend, Will understand! You too friend will see!

God is love, and compassion is his only son

And the whole creation his holy spirit

Salvation is here and heaven is now

And selflessness is the only path

Even as the church bells ring on another Sunday morning!

Here and now! Forever rings the eternal bell of salvation!

CLIMBING UP THE WRONG TREE

Climbing up the wrong tree of religion

Yet, rooted in the same soil of humanity!

The man on the other branch, is he not your brother?

Fixated on the colored fruits, hanging in your own branch

Intoxicated on the pompous drink, of self-righteousness

Blinded to reason; but driven by heartless passion

Is that why, you cannot really see!

It’s the same old bark, and the same holy tree

Brothers of the same seeds

Forever in arms, if we really choose to be!

Clinging to the colour, of some illusionary fruit

And fighting over the fragrance of their blessed flowers

If all your life is lost, in the pointless rituals of one mighty tree

Tell me dear brother

Can the mind really be free?

LAZY LIZARD ON THE TEMPLE WALL

Oh lazy lizard on the temple wall!

What makes you grip and not fall?

Is it faith that moved the mighty mountains, that holds you?

Does the gravity of desire, fool you?

You scaled the wondrous wall to worthy heights

But creep back to cracks and corners, when not in sight

With valor and stealth,  you stalk your flying prey

But to the lord of the flies must they pray?

With ritualistic precision you lash your faithful tail

Yet, with the mere shadow of fear, you drop it off your trail

You strut around with pride, and hum a chesty tune

Unaware that, dusk follows the dawn of  good fortune

Don’t you  know oh lazy lizard !

That you own not the wall,  that you proudly crawl!

Sooner or later, it could be your turn to fall!

So, when water washes away your footprints from the temple wall!

Oh, lazy lizard! What will you grip to, when you slip and fall?
