COURT OF SANCTIMONY

In this court of sanctimony
Where ego wears the crown
Ministers of attribution
Mislead the distractable jury!
Blaming the neighbor for its own
manufactured misery
As the naked truth is buckled up
While it’s the crown, that should have
faced the fury
But it’s the poor man who carries the cross!
While the feeling of knowing runs amok
Claiming victory over the highlands of
truth
Queen Memory elopes with imagination
And comes back gravid with confabulation
As the orphaned reality is led astray
And misbegotten confabulation claims the crown
The court is lost in the bliss of self
glory
As the country as a whole runs
aground!
In this court of sanctimony
Where the jester wears the crown
Tell me dear friend
Who else is left to call the bluff?

GOD IS LOVE
In this day of enlightenment
Why do you still crouch in medieval darkness!
Take away your blindfold of hatred
And see the world with eyes of love!
Throw away your divisive thoughts
And embrace the truth of love and compassion!
For God is all around you; god is all within you;
For God is manifested! God is Love!
In the mystical dervishes of the Sufi
In the lotus position of the yogi
In the cross and the Calvary
In the holy ashes, and the flowing Ganges
God is all around you!
In Mecca or Jerusalem; Kasi or Gaya
Every man has a heart; and every heart has a spark of it!
The flame of everlasting love!
As the same sun shines high; in both the wilderness and in
the green pastures
Jehovah and Allah; Hari and Shiva
Aren’t they but different fingers pointing to the same sun?
As the sunshine of love fills the heart of a true lover
What else is God but Love!

ONLY YOU
![]() |
| The Blue Mosque - Istanbul |
I have sailed the seven seas, and
traveled across mountains and plains
I have read the wisdom of the
ages and of myriad lands
I have tasted the nectar of truth
from every flower of faith
Yet in my soul searching journey,
I did not find myself
I have looked everywhere and
sought answers from the heaven and skies
But everywhere I looked for my
soul, I found only You!
In the deepest chasm of my soul,
and in the warmth of the morning sunshine; I find only you
In every nook and every corner of
some busy street, and in the fearful darkness of the winter night; I find only
You
In the dew filled blossoms of
spring, and breezed up leaves of autumn; I find only You
In the face of every passer by;
and in every bird painting the evening sky; I find only You
In the pain and happiness of some
unknown man; and the untold sorrow in another land; I find only You
Oh Mysterious one! Words and
concepts fall apart to silence to fathom thee!
Oh master of my sentience, player
of my consciousness; doer of all that’s done!
Let my humble soul be filled with
you!

CLIMBING UP THE WRONG TREE
Yet, rooted in the same soil of humanity!
The man on the other branch, is he not your brother?
Fixated on the colored fruits, hanging in your own branch
Intoxicated on the pompous drink, of self-righteousness
Blinded to reason; but driven by heartless passion
Is that why, you cannot really see!
It’s the same old bark, and the same holy tree
Brothers of the same seeds
Forever in arms, if we really choose to be!
Clinging to the colour, of some illusionary fruit
And fighting over the fragrance of their blessed flowers
If all your life is lost, in the pointless rituals of one mighty tree
Tell me dear brother
Can the mind really be free?

LAZY LIZARD ON THE TEMPLE WALL
Oh lazy lizard on the temple wall!
Is it faith that moved the mighty
mountains, that holds you?
Does the gravity of desire, fool you?
You scaled the wondrous wall to worthy
heights
But creep back to cracks and
corners, when not in sight
With valor and stealth, you stalk your flying prey
But to the lord of the flies must
they pray?
With ritualistic precision you lash
your faithful tail
Yet, with the mere shadow of fear,
you drop it off your trail
You strut around with pride, and
hum a chesty tune
Unaware that, dusk follows the dawn of good fortune
Don’t you know oh lazy lizard !
That you own not the wall, that you proudly crawl!
Sooner or later, it could be your turn to fall!
So, when water washes away your footprints from the temple wall!
Oh, lazy lizard! What will you grip to, when you slip
and fall?
