I AM THAT

I am the sun and I am the star

I am a wandering soul from afar

I am the water, and I am the wine

I am the hand that makes it divine

I am the potter, and I am the clay

I am a little boy wanting to play

I am the master, and I am the slave

The blind man feeling, the elephant's tail

I am the cloud and I am the sky

I am the mind that riddles the why

I am the ocean, and I am the shore

I am a being with no permanent soul

I am the seed and I am the tree

I am you and all that you see

I am that and I am thou

But, I am nothing at all, without infinite love

I am that and I am thou

I am nothing not all, without boundless love

  1. This poem is written from the perspective of Advaita philosophy of non-duality. From that perspective it explores "anekanatavada" of jain philosophy and "philosophy of no identity" of buddhist philosophy. It emphasizes at a pragmatic level whatever philosophy one chooses to believe what matter's is universal love and its manifestation in conventional life

  2. I like your poems. I have one suggestion to this poem: If you replace "I am the blind man" with simply "The blind man", the rhytm is much better and it diversifies the style of the poem without changing it. Do you see what I mean?

  3. I am here, Parker my brother,
With existence as just a man,
    Recognizing existence of the other
Using brains and not just bran.

What is love without an ‘other’?
    Essentially being a selfish pig.
    Understanding otherness is the mother,
Of boundless love and utopia big.

If all are good and all are one,
Why is there so much evil?
    Atrocities and mistakes are done,
Because we humans have a will.

Thanks for this freedom that you and I,
Can choose to hate or love the ‘other’,
Individuality is the important key by
    which comes responsibility, my brother.

The boundless love that you hope for,
is the desire of many like me.
The challenge is to find the right door,
To find the love for eternity.

  6. My friend Natesan say " love everyone truly and you shall understand what this poem means.. it not just about knocking the right door... but opening to everyone ... to the right door for everyone...and to make everyone realise they to have a door which they need to open for everyone else...his is the truth which every "saviour", every " messenger", every "God" has said.... this is ...............................THE TRUE ESSENCE OF LIFE"

This is the essence of the poem and a reply to Dheeraj too
